WHERE IS JÖNKÖPING?
Jönköping is a
city in southern Sweden with 89,396 inhabitants (2010). Jönköping is
situated at the southern end of Sweden's second largest lake, Vättern, in the
province of Småland.

JÖNKÖNPING IS FAMOUS FOR...
...being referred to by many Swedes as the Jerusalem of Sweden or The Pearl of the Lake - due to the
town's location by the southern tip of Europe's sixth largest lake and the many
churches representing numerous denominations and religions.

Jönköping also has two smaller lakes in its
city centre: Munksjön ('Monk's Lake') and Rocksjön ('Rock Lake'). Jönköping is
Sweden's 9th largest municipality.

One of our finest
assets, the over 100 year old city park located on the hills with panoramic
views over Vättern and the city. It's an oasis within wlaking distance from the
city centre.

Jönköping’s two
kilometer long beach is in the middle of the city. You can take a walk on the beach
and there are beautiful places around Vättern where it's nice to enjoy a
picnic.

Jönköping’s
biggest heated bath, is located nearby Elmia. The swimming hall gives you a
water adventure with both outdoor- and indoor pools.
LIFESTYLE
There is always
something going on, and lots of people to meet. Jönköping is a great place to relax,
to shop and to eat out.

The town centre of
Jönköping consists in equal parts of water, streets and sandy beaches.
Jönköping also boasts one of Sweden’s highest concentrations of restaurants. The
town centre is built around three lakes and abounds with narrow alleyways,
cafés and restaurants. You’ll easily find a seat in the sun, both at lunch and
dinner. As for bars and nightclubs, Jönköping comes alive when darkness falls.
