Choir kids have sent their first postcard! It features a group of people wearing Galician traditional costumes in As Burgas, Ourense's most famous hot springs.
This card will travel 5,711 kilometres before it reaches its destination: Virginia Beach, the largest city in the state of Virginia, on the east coast of the United States. Hope Nana likes it! You can find out more about our traditional costumes in DISCOVER OURENSE.
Our choir kids have let Nana know about the charity project they have organised this academic year (2015-2016): Smiley Water!
As you may well remember, Smiley Water is an international charity project based in our school which intends to let
children know about Middle East and North Africa refugees’ plight and to raise funds that may help improve and enhance the
protection and care of refugee children and their families. It supported by the Deputación de Ourense (Ourense’s
provincial Government), the Cruz Roja (the Red Cross) and Termatalia
(International Fair of Thermal Tourism).

Together with our School
choir, children from twelve different countries spread across four continents have
taken part in “Smiley Water”! How? We have created a videoclip
featuring a song which serves as a message of encouragement and hope for
refugee children. We’ve had the help of renowned singer-composer Alejandro
Abad, who composed the project’s song and performed it together with all the
project’s participants. The funds raised have been integrally destined to
Red Cross projects.
Here's their videoclip!
Our choir kids have also done some research on Nana's hometown, Virginia Beach and have published their findings in EXPLORING PLACES. Thank you, guys!
